Roles and approval workflow
Added September 2026 — see the Watchdog entry. A member holds one role per workspace, so the same person can carry different permissions on each client under one login. Roles start from four editable templates — Contributor, Writer, Editor, Publisher — or are built from scratch across ten permission groups covering posts, approvals and publishing, social profiles, the library, the inbox, reports, DM automations, paid ads, client review, and workspace settings; several groups carry a master switch that hides the whole area from that member’s sidebar.
The workflow is a sequence of stages the account owner names, of four types: drafting, internal review, client review, and scheduled. Each stage names the roles allowed to act on it. A stage can carry a deadline between 4 hours and 7 days, with warnings at 50% and 80% of that time, and when the deadline passes RecurPost holds the post, escalates it, approves it automatically, or reschedules it. Clients approve or send a post back from a shareable link, with no login. The same stages appear as a Kanban board next to the calendar.
Plan placement is stated two ways on RecurPost’s own site: the pricing page marks roles and permissions as Agency and Enterprise only, while both feature pages say roles come with every plan and only the workflow builder is on Agency. We report the pricing page, which is the source this profile is verified against.
Where it fits
Price-driven small teams and agencies. Agency’s flat $79/mo for 20 profiles and 3 users undercuts Sendible Plus ($99/mo, 18 profiles) and Vista Social Professional ($79/mo for 15 profiles before its X and Listening add-ons). X/Twitter is included, with a built-in wallet covering X’s per-post URL fee — on Vista Social the equivalent is a $29/mo add-on. Clients connect their accounts through a share link with no credentials, and DM automation plus a DM/comment inbox ship in the base plans at price points where several competitors gate or omit them. Since September 2026 the Agency plan also carries roles assigned per workspace and a named-stage approval workflow whose stage deadlines hold, escalate, auto-approve or reschedule a post nobody has acted on.
Where it doesn’t
The same hands-on audit series behind this Directory rated Vista Social ahead on raw feature depth — reporting builder, listening breadth, white-label — and Publer cleaner on day-to-day UX. Extra seats cost $20/mo, more than Publer ($2–3) or SocialBee ($10) charge for theirs. There’s no competitor benchmarking and no content-discovery engine like ContentStudio’s. The approval workflow covers one-off posts only: RecurPost’s own page states that evergreen library content and recurring posts do not travel through its stages, so an agency whose calendar is built on the recycling this product is named for puts only part of its output through review. On the pricing page the row carrying approval workflow and shareable calendars reads: not included on Starter, two calendars on Personal, five on Agency.
