An approval chain means a post can’t go live until someone else signs off — the question is whether that someone is internal staff, an external client, or both, and whether it’s one step or several.
What we found
Buffer: approvals only on the Team plan ($12/channel/mo); if an approver-required post doesn’t meet a platform’s requirements, no error is shown to anyone in the chain — it silently enters the queue and fails.
Later: internal approval on Growth+ ($50/mo); external client review via a shareable link (no client login needed) is also Growth+.
RecurPost: approvals and calendar-level approval included across plans, with unlimited workspaces. Since September 2026 there is also a staged workflow whose stages the account owner names — drafting, internal review, client review, scheduled — with a per-stage deadline of 4 hours to 7 days that holds, escalates, auto-approves or reschedules a post nobody acted on, and client sign-off from a link with no login. Its pricing page puts roles and the workflow builder on Agency ($79/mo) while its feature pages say roles are on every plan (what changed). Disclosure: same team as this site.
For approval workflows built as the primary product rather than an add-on tier, see Approval & Agency Workflow Tools.
